POSITION:  Childcare Assistant – Wilma Valentine Childcare

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate. Ohio Department of Education & Workforce Aide Permit or willingness to obtain (the Board of DD will provide guidance in obtaining the permit if needed). Successful completion of a physical, BCI/FBI background check and multiple database background checks as defined by ODODD Rule 5123-2-02.  Must be physically capable to lift, carry, and move children in a safe manner.

DUTIES:

  • Assist in the daily personal care of children enrolled in the childcare program.  This includes diapering, rest-rooming, lifting and moving children aged 3 thru 6.
  • Implement and modify plans for children related to their individual needs.
  • Assist in keeping records and documentation.
  • Maintain discipline and child accountability on school/childcare grounds and on excursions in the community.
  • Assist in developing and implementing instructional and recreational activities and daily routines for children.
  • Interact and communicate with families at arrival and dismissal to assist with transition.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Maintain professional ethics in keeping with the confidentiality of information and materials.    
  • Demonstrate support of the program philosophy, policies, and procedures. 
  • Complete all needed training for maintaining Step-Up-To-Quality (SUTQ) standards and Ohio Department of Education & Workforce (ODEW) Educational Aide Permit requirements.

HOURS:    Full-time, year-round position. Wilma Valentine Childcare operates weekdays between the hours of 5:30am and 5:30pm. This position works Monday through Friday – 7 hours per day/35 hours per week. Work hours for this position will be 10:30am to 5:30pm.

COMPENSATION:   Hourly pay rate starting between $14.17 and $20.40 based on relevant experience. Benefits include Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS); medical, dental, vision and life insurance; paid sick, vacation, and personal leave.  Eleven paid Federal Holidays and extended holiday periods in July and December.
