POSITION:  Custodian  

QUALIFICATIONS:  High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.  Knowledge and experience in janitorial services preferred.  Ability to lift maintenance and cleaning material and equipment in a safe manner required.  Valid Ohio Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record required.  Successful completion of a physical, BCI/FBI background check and multiple database background checks as defined by DODD Rule 5123-2-02 required. 

DUTIES:   General duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all Board operated facilities. 
  • Maintaining a safe environment within and outside all facilities.
  • Inspecting buildings and equipment for needed repairs/replacement.
  • Preparing rooms and buildings for special activities & events.
  • Completing work orders, including minor repairs to fixtures and furnishings.
  • Dusting, mopping, washing, buffing, stripping, and waxing floors.  Vacuuming carpets and chairs.
  • Cleaning glass, mirrors, and windows.  Cleaning drinking fountains and basins.
  • Cleaning restrooms including all fixtures, partitions, walls and floors.  Restocking restroom supplies.
  • Cleaning break rooms, lunchrooms and conference rooms.
  • Washing walls, cabinets, doors, windowsills, light fixtures, HVAC grilles, etc.
  • Emptying and cleaning trash receptacles.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting doors, doorknobs and light switches.
  • Ensuring exterior entrances to facilities, as well as all mechanical rooms, janitorial closets, and storage rooms are locked and secure at all times. 

COMPENSATION:  Starting hourly pay range between $14.00 and $20.60, dependent on experience.  Benefits include Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS); medical, dental, vision, life insurance; paid sick, vacation, personal leave and eleven paid federal holidays.

HOURS:  40 hours per week/8 hours per day.  Initial work hour options include: 4:00pm to 12:00am OR 12:00am to 8:00am.  An adjustment to work hours to meet the needs of the candidate may be considered upon completion of training, as long as the shift starts after 4:00pm.
