Congratulations to February’s Provider of the Month, Melinda Hughes. Melinda has goes above and beyond the call of duty as an Independent Provider. Recently, when one of the individuals she works with was hospitalized she ensured all of his needs were being met. She visited him multiple times at several hospitals and the nursing home. Melinda cleaned out his old apartment and assisted with moving his belongs to another home. She purchased new clothing and bedding to make sure he had everything he needed when he returned home. Melinda rearranged her schedule so that she could spend time with him and make sure his medications were given properly. She has worked with several clients and constantly goes out of her way to help others. Melinda has been in the DODD field for 26 years and has been an Independent Provider for 11 years. For Melinda, a good day at work is spending time with her clients doing something important to them; encouraging them to try new things, helping ensure they are healthy and safe, and having fun! Melinda and her husband Brian have been married for 26 years. They have two grown children and three grandchildren. She is very dependable, honest, and caring. We are so lucky to have her as a provider for the individuals we serve.

Providers of services to people with developmental disabilities may be independent (self employed individuals) or agencies.
