The Shelby County Board of Developmental Disabilities has received the Green Business Certification through the Dayton Regional Green initiative. This certification starts with an energy audit which is a comprehensive assessment of a building’s energy use throughout its operations. The purpose of the audit is identifying the most cost-effective opportunities to reduce energy usage through equipment upgrades, equipment repairs, and/or occupant behavioral implementations. “Green” improvements that have been made include changing our cleaning solutions to environmentally safe products and energy savings received from HVAC control upgrades and indoor and outdoor LED lighting changes. Through this process, SCBDD remains committed to saving energy, reducing waste, and saving water. The certification is valid through 2020.
