January Provider of the Month

Jennifer Nolen

Congratulations to January’s Provider of the Month, Jennifer Nolen.  Jennifer has been a provider since August of 2019 and has always loved working in the DD field.  She has been a sub at Shelby Hills Preschool, Wilma Valentine Childcare, and in the MD classrooms for Sidney City Schools.  Jennifer has three sons, two of which have autism.  She also provides babysitting in her home and has cared for children with special needs.  She states it’s great when they walk into her house because they know they are going to have a great day.  They bake, enjoy the parks, cook, and go on field trips.  “It’s so awesome when they catch on and accomplish the goals they set for themselves, states Jennifer”.   A good day at work for Jennifer is when the person she’s working with is enjoying doing something new and catching on.  She loves how they always keep trying until they get it.  Jennifer says, “It is great to see their faces light up when we go on our adventures, no matter how big or small they are.”

The Service and Support Administration Department would like to recognize our providers who go above and beyond for the people they support. Every month we will spotlight a “Provider of the Month”.  Nominees will be selected by vote from submission forms received the previous month. Just a small token of our appreciation for all that you do for the people in Shelby County!

Providers of services to people with developmental disabilities may be independent (self employed individuals) or agencies. In either situation, providers must be certified through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in order to provide services through waiver funding.
