Congratulations to June’s Provider of the Month Bonnie Riell. Bonnie completely dedicated to her job and her demeanor provides calmness to the individuals that she works with. This positive attitude filters down to her fellow staff members. Bonnie started her career with Capabilities at We Can Too. This exposure fueled her passion to make a difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities.
There is one man in particular that lacked confidence to participate in almost anything outside of his home. With Bonnie’s support and the program through Capabilities at Edison State Community College, he is now enrolled as a student at Edison.
Bonnie has been working in the developmental disabilities field for five and a half years. Bonnie states, “My good day at work starts with having a whole team of supports who are able to connect the dots in a person’s life.” Bonnie truly feels that it is a privilege to be part of assisting someone identify their passions and to create vision of what a “good life” means to him or her. She finds much joy in accompanying her clients on their journey and in providing services that may aid in finding employment, continued education opportunities, greater independence, and increased social relationships. There is one bright young man in particular who lacked the self-confidence to participate in almost anything outside of his home including post-secondary opportunities after graduating from high school a half dozen years ago. Thanks to Bonnie with the support and services of Capabilities, Edison State Community College, and the Shelby County Board of Developmental Disabilities, he has been able to successfully pursue his collegiate and social dreams by enrolling as a student at Edison. That is a professional victory….. And that is a great day for Bonnie! Bonnie very much appreciates and is humbled to be our June provider of the month.
