November Provider of the Month

Betty_Murphy

Congratulations to November’s Provider of the Month Betty Murphy.  Betty has been dedicated to her job and the people she supports for over 18 years and is great to work with.  She is always willing to assist people with getting their transportation set up so they are able to get to and from work.  She helps in any way she can to ensure that someone is able to do the things they want.  A good day for Betty at work is making sure things run as smoothly as possible with people getting safely where they need to be.  “My job is so rewarding; I can be having an awful day where nothing is going right and one person can smile or say something to me that will give me that moment of ‘wow, this is why I love my job.’  I didn’t start in this field until I was in my 30’s, now I wish I would have started right out of high school.  I love seeing the different opportunities that the associates have today compared to when I first began in this field.  The choices and opportunities have grown so much!  The associates that attend S&H seem much happier by being allowed to make their own choices and decisions on what they want to do.  My heart is full knowing that I make a difference in their lives but also knowing they have influenced me in my life.”

The Community and Support Services Department would like to recognize our providers who go above and beyond for the people they support. Every month we will spotlight a “Provider of the Month”. Nominees will be selected by vote from submission forms received the previous month. Just a small token of our appreciation for all that you do for the people in Shelby County!

Providers of services to people with developmental disabilities may be independent (self employed individuals) or agencies. In either situation, providers must be certified through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in order to provide services through waiver funding.
