Dear Shelby Hills Early Childhood Center Parents and Families,

The Shelby Hills Early Childhood Center has been grateful to have the privilege to serve the children of Shelby County for several decades in our preschool. We were recently faced with some unexpected news that is going to impact the way that we provide these services to children who reside in the Sidney City School district. We have been notified by the administration of Sidney City Schools that they intend to bring preschool services back into their district for the 2019-2020 school year. Sidney City Schools has indicated the decision is both a cost saving measure to their district along with the desire to serve additional children as they will be using a different model than the one currently being used at Shelby Hills. After serving the families and children of Sidney for many years, we at the Shelby Hills Early Childhood Center and the Shelby County Board of DD, are all disappointed in this news.

Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, students who reside in the Sidney City Schools District will no longer attend preschool at Shelby Hills Early Childhood Center. Sidney City Schools has not yet made all of their plans public, but we will continue to work with them to ensure that this is a smooth transition for everyone involved. Shelby Hills Early Childhood Center plans to continue to serve students from other districts at the center, as well as at our various satellite locations across Shelby County.

As we receive additional information on this upcoming transition, we will work closely with all families impacted. If you have specific questions about this upcoming change, you may contact the Shelby Hills office at (937) 497-8155.

Best Regards,

Leigh Anne Wenning
