SEE Me is a special series spotlighting an individual supported by the Shelby County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Sophie is an amazing young lady whose potential seems to be growing by leaps and bounds these days. She spends much of her time attending Wilma Valentine Childcare and Shelby Hills Preschool where gets to play with her many friends while learning. Give Sophie a song with a beat and she can’t wait to dance! She has her own mini-car with a radio where she listens to everything from classical music to hip-hop. Everyone who has ever met Sophie talks about the joy and smiles she brings to those around her.
Like many other kids her age, Sophie loves being around family. She likes going to Grandma’s house and to the store with her parents. Her parents, grandparents, and cousins are all close to her heart and she especially enjoys time with her Uncle Bruce.
Sophie stays active by playing at the park by her house and going swimming. She enjoys doing crafts and is very creative. Though she’s young, Sophie is fearless when it comes to getting on the rides at King’s Island!
‘Small but mighty’ is a good description for Sophie. She was born with a heart defect and spent the first few months on earth fighting for her life. Sophie’s parents are very grateful for the amazing medical staff at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus that helped her through her many medical procedures. Sophie’s family is also thankful to the staff at Shelby County Board of DD’s Early Intervention program that assisted in her development before preschool began.
See Sophie for who she is; a family-oriented, creative preschooler and thrill-seeker who loves to dance, be active and brings joy to everyone she meets.
