The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA has announced a new addition to its Special Populations locker room — an adult changing table made possible through support from the Shelby County Board of Developmental Disabilities (DD).

The upgrade marks another step forward in the YMCA’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, accessibility and community support, a news release said. The addition of the adult changing table enhances dignity, comfort and accessibility for individuals with disabilities and their families, creating a more inclusive environment for all who walk through the Y’s doors.

“This is about more than just upgrading our facilities — it’s about the people we serve,” said David O’Leary, CEO of the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA. “Thanks to the Shelby County Board of DD, we are able to better support individuals of all ages and abilities, including the older children in our CampYOU summer program, who can now participate more fully and safely in camp activities.” The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA is committed to ensuring that every member of the community feels welcome and valued. This latest enhancement reflects that mission and strengthens the Y’s ability to provide meaningful experiences for individuals of all abilities.

Together with partners like the Shelby County Board of DD, the Y continues to build a community where everyone belongs. For more information on pool hours, programming and membership options, visit www.sidney-ymca.org or contact the Welcome Center at 937-492-9134.
